Sony today announced the launch of “two of the most advanced, versatile Cyber-shot cameras ever,” the compact RX100 IV and the high-zoom RX 10 II. Both models have the world’s first 1.0 type stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor which brings advanced signal processing and an attached DRAM chip. Features of the RX100 IV and RX10 II include 40x super slow motion video capture at up to 960 frames per second, 4K video capture, ultra-fast Anti-Distortion Shutter with maximum speed of 1/32000 second and much more.
Before shooting slow-mo video users can choose from 960fps, 480fps and 240fps frame rates and among 60p, 30p and 24p playback formats, whatever configuration suits with the speed of the moving object.
Both cameras are great for shooting fast-moving subjects as the ultra-fast Anti-Distortion Shutter provides for a maximum shutter speed of 1/32000 second.
These are Sony’s first Cyber-shot cameras to offer 4K movie recording at 3,840×2,160 resolution. They use XAVC 5 code which records video at high data rate of 100 Mbps during 4K recording and 50 Mbps during full HD recording.
The RX10 II can shoot 4K video up to 29 minutes whereas the RX100 IV can capture 4K clips at about five minutes in length. 16.8 megapixel still images can be captured during 4K recording by simply pressing the shutter button.
Sony Cyber-shot RX100 IV and RX10 II will be available next month for $1,000 and $1,300 respectively, pre-sales for both models starts on June 17th.
